Meet the Houseparents

Houseparent:  Mr Nick Thayre Housemaster Lisbury

“I have a real commitment to all the children and young people I work with. I like to identify their strengths; and build on these. When they get things wrong (and we all do!) I will help them to think about how they can improve and get it right in the future. I like to encourage our students, help them to make good decisions and work hard, and praise them in all the good that they do.

“I joined Sexey’s Boarding in September 2021, having previously worked in a range of social work settings, including Residential Children’s Homes, Residential Schools, and as a Social Worker and Team Manager in Child Protection, Fostering, and work with Young Offenders. I have also been a foster carer of teenagers for over 20 years. I switched careers from social work to education two years ago; and I have to say that I am enjoying every moment of it.

“My own children, Joshua, Harriet, and Rosie, are all adults and married. I’m now also a proud grandad to Amelia, Oliver and Barney.”

Amie CullAssistant Houseparent: Amie Cull

Hey, I’m Amie. A Dorset girl who has made her way around the world and slowly made her way back down to this beautiful part of the world.

I have worked in boarding for almost 10 years now and love what I do! I have worked with boarding children from age 3-19, boys and girls from Somerset-China and everywhere in between! I like to create a home from home environment and take pride in building a cosy relaxing home for all those I take care of. I enjoy getting involved in activities, trips and simply sitting down drinking a cup of tea (with a biscuit) to chat about the day! I consider myself to be a good listener with a calm nature.

In my free time I am a keen swimmer. I enjoy open water swimming as well as jumping in the pool a couple of times a week. I spend most of my current free time on baby play dates after starting my own little family last August. We make regular trips to Paris for our little boy to get to know his dads side of the family and for me to brush up on my French!

I live on site and will be embracing every aspect of boarding life the school offers.

Assistant Houseparent: Mrs Jackie Watts

Mrs Watts joined the Boarding department in September 2020. She is a mum and grandma, enjoying precious time with them all. Bringing a wealth of experience to the Boarding House, Mrs Watts was a House Assistant in a local Independent school for 6 years. She is approachable, kind and generous with her time, and enjoys activities in House, her specialty being pancakes and homemade sausage rolls.

Stacie is a vital link between boarding and School and brings a wealth of knowledge to her role and will always go the extra mile for the boarders.
