Introducing Tom Tuthill, our new Head of Boarding
We are delighted to welcome Tom Tuthill to Sexey’s School as our new Head of Boarding.
Tom joins us from Malvern College, where he spent eight years as Housemaster of No. 9, building a strong boarding community and supporting students throughout their school journeys. Before joining Malvern, he worked at Bloxham School as Director of Sport and Head of the Lower School, bringing considerable leadership and pastoral experience to his roles.
A passionate advocate of boarding education, Tom understands the importance of creating a welcoming, supportive environment where young people can develop confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging. Throughout his career, he has placed great value on building positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues, and on the everyday experiences that make boarding life so rewarding.
Having now been in post for four weeks, Tom said: “It has been wonderful to settle into life at Sexey’s and get to know our boarders, staff and wider school community. I have been made to feel incredibly welcome and have already seen what makes boarding here so special. I am excited about building on these strong foundations, invigorating and enhancing our boarding offer, and creating even more opportunities for our students to thrive. My aim is to ensure boarding continues to be a true home from home, where every student feels valued, supported and encouraged to develop independence, confidence and lasting friendships.”
Tom has also experienced boarding education from a family perspective, giving him a valuable understanding of the trust parents place in a school to care for and support their children.
As part of his plans for Sexey’s, Tom is keen to raise awareness of the school’s boarding provision and encourage more families to discover what it has to offer. The forthcoming Boarding Open Day on Saturday 6 March will provide an ideal opportunity for prospective families to visit the school, meet the boarding team and students, and find out more about life at Sexey’s.
With flexible options ranging from three-night part-time boarding through to four- or five-night weekly boarding and full boarding, Tom hopes to build a thriving and diverse boarding community. He is committed to building on the strong foundations already in place, enhancing the boarding experience and ensuring more young people can benefit from the friendships, independence, confidence and sense of belonging that boarding at Sexey’s provides. Registrations for the Open Day are now open here.
We look forward to working with Tom as he leads our boarding provision, continuing to provide our boarders with a happy, supportive and enriching home-from-home experience.
