Summer Concert and Jazz Band Performance Celebrate a Fantastic Year of Music
The Music Department rounded off a fantastic year with two memorable performances, showcasing the exceptional talent, dedication and enthusiasm of our student musicians.
Our annual Summer Concert was a wonderful celebration of music-making, performed to a sold-out audience on one of the warmest evenings of the year. The programme featured an impressive variety of styles, highlighting the breadth of musical talent across the school.
Large ensemble performances of American folk classics including Homeward Bound and Shenandoah were complemented by an exciting selection of solos and duets. From the music of Michael Jackson and Bob Dylan to works by Tchaikovsky and Miles Davis, students demonstrated remarkable versatility and confidence across a diverse repertoire.
Reflecting on the evening, the Head of Music said “It was the perfect way to bring a superb year of music-making to a close. I would like to personally thank all of the students at Sexey’s who have contributed to the growth of Music and made my first year such a joy.”
The celebrations continued on Wednesday 8 July, when the Sexey’s Jazz Band performed at the Bruton Primary School Summer Fete. Their lively set was warmly received by the local community, with many audience members commenting on the outstanding quality of the musicianship, particularly from such a young ensemble.
Congratulations to all of the students who took part in both performances. Their commitment, hard work and passion for music have made this a truly memorable year for the Music Department.
