Sixth Form Students Return Inspired from Paris Psychology & Maths Conference

Sixth form students studying Psychology and Mathematics have returned from an enriching four-day trip to Paris, where academic exploration blended seamlessly with cultural discovery.

The visit offered students the chance to experience some of the French capital’s most iconic landmarks, including the Louvre Museum, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, providing a memorable backdrop to their educational journey.

Beyond sightseeing, students extended their knowledge well beyond the A Level curriculum. A visit to the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie allowed them to explore topics such as brain function, perception, the role of mathematics in everyday life and even elements of astrophysics.

A highlight of the trip was attending a specialist conference at Disneyland Paris. While there was time to enjoy some of the park’s attractions, the academic programme proved equally engaging. Psychology students attended expert talks on psychopathy and its links to crime and occupation, the growing issue of technology addiction, and received valuable insights on exam technique from a lead examiner. Meanwhile, Mathematics students took part in lectures covering mathematical modelling, real-world probability, and the transformative power of numbers.

Although the long coach journey left many feeling tired upon their return, the impact of the trip has already been felt across the school. Year 11 students have shown strong interest in the opportunity, with many already enquiring about attending the conference when they join the sixth form next year.

The trip stands as a testament to the value of learning beyond the classroom, inspiring students and sparking enthusiasm for both subjects in the wider school community.
