Ski Trip 2026: Year 10 Take on Pila!
Year 10 students enjoyed an unforgettable week in Pila this year, with 55 students heading off to the Italian Alps for a ski trip packed with fresh snow, big progress, and plenty of memorable moments.
With the promise of excellent conditions — and an exciting newly built gondola taking skiers right to the top of the mountain — the group arrived on Sunday on time, feeling tired after the journey but full of excitement. Some students were even asking, “Are we skiing today?” before they’d unpacked!
After checking into the hotels, students were fitted with skis and boots before taking part in the first briefing of the week. This was also a chance to meet the trip coordinators, Laura and Chambo, who were fantastic throughout and looked after everyone brilliantly.
Monday morning brought early starts across both hotels, but students were up and ready, eager to get onto the slopes they had spent the previous afternoon trying to throw snow on each other across! The group boarded the first gondola without any mishaps and headed off to meet instructors. Staff had the chance to drop in on groups throughout the day and join them for lunch — and the smiles said it all.
As the week went on, the progress made by students was incredible. Beginners quickly moved from the nursery slopes onto blue runs, while more confident skiers advanced from blues to reds — and even onto blacks. In fact, this year saw the most progress made by any school ski group the staff had ever taken part in, which was a real highlight of the week.
Off the slopes, students also enjoyed a range of activities. Pizza night was a big success, and bowling provided plenty of laughs — especially when students challenged staff to see who could score higher… and the staff just managed to come out on top!
The week ended with a presentation evening where achievements were celebrated and certificates were awarded, recognising the effort, resilience, and determination shown by students throughout the trip.
All students were a credit to the school and their families, both on and off the slopes. Well done to all our Year 10 Ski Trippers!
