Year 8 Engineers Shine at STEM Challenge Day
Last Tuesday, 60 of our Year 8 students took part in an exciting and highly engaging STEM Challenge Day, delivered in partnership with The Smallpeice Trust and the RAF Charitable Trust.
Working in teams of six, students were tasked with designing and building prototype landing craft, before creating their own company logos and marketing their ideas in a final presentation. These were judged by Fred Boucher, a former Royal Engineer, who was impressed by the creativity, teamwork and professionalism shown throughout the day.
Students demonstrated outstanding focus and enthusiasm, developing not only their engineering and design skills but also key life skills such as communication, teamwork and confidence—particularly valuable when thinking ahead to future careers and job interviews.
Behaviour was exemplary throughout, and the day was enjoyed by all involved.
We are pleased to congratulate the winning teams:
1st Place – Team 9: Tilly C., Sophie J., Elijah L., Elliott M., Poppy R. and Wilfred W.
2nd Place – Team 4: Eddie B., Rupert C., Amalia C., Max H., Isobel K. and Lois W.
3rd Place – Team 1: Dominic B., Millie K., Ava O., Conor S., Tabitha T. and Gus W.
A special thank you goes to Mrs Radford-James for organising the day and ensuring it ran so smoothly, as well as to our partners for providing such an inspiring opportunity.
