Christmas Showcase 2025

Christmas Showcase 2025

This year’s Christmas Showcase was a spectacular celebration of music, talent, and festive spirit from across the Sexey’s School community. Held in front of an enthusiastic audience of families, friends, and staff, the evening brought together students from a wide range of year groups and musical ensembles, each contributing to a wonderfully memorable event.

The Concert Orchestra opened the showcase with performances of Music from Wicked and the traditional piece Just a Closer Walk With Thee. Their polished playing set the tone for a night of exceptional musicianship.

Our Woodwind Quartet followed with a beautifully arranged excerpt from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, while soloists Wilfred W and John W impressed audiences with technically outstanding and expressive renditions of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8 (“Pathétique”) and Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3 respectively.

The Year 11 Band brought energy and nostalgia to the evening with performances of Undone by Weezer and Cigarettes & Alcohol by Oasis, before soloist Fran Davis delivered a heartfelt version of Love Story.

The String Group added a cinematic quality to the programme with Legend of Ashitaka, followed by seasonal favourites including Troika and Fairytale of New York. Soloist Bea B gave a moving performance of Love Yourself.

Dynamix lit up the stage with vibrant harmonies in Breath of Heaven and Lovely Day, while the Year 7 Choir delighted the audience with their spirited rendition of Revolting Children from Matilda the Musical—a highlight for many families watching their children take part in their first major school performance.

The Concert Orchestra returned to close the evening, featuring soloist Toby Hawkins in Emerald Bay before inviting the audience to join in with festive classics such as Winter Wonderland, Let it Snow! and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. This joyful sing-along brought the showcase to a warm and uplifting finale.

A huge well done to every performer—from orchestra members to choir singers, soloists to ensemble groups. The talent, commitment, and enthusiasm on display were truly exceptional. Special thanks go to our Head of Music, Olly Higgs, our dedicated team of peripatetic teachers, and all staff who supported rehearsals and helped ensure the event ran seamlessly.

We are incredibly proud of all the students involved. Their hard work and enthusiasm made the 2025 Christmas Showcase a truly magical evening.
