Outstanding GCSE results place us among somerset’s top schools

We are proud to announce exceptional performance in the latest county education rankings, based on the 2024/2025 GCSE results. We have secured a position among the top five schools in Somerset for students achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and Maths, with a strong result of 52%.

We also secured the third-highest Average Point Score (APS) in Somerset, achieving an impressive 51.6. The APS is a measure that converts GCSE grades into numerical points, providing a clear and comparable indication of a pupil’s overall performance across all their GCSE subjects. Each grade carries a point value, and these are averaged to produce the final score.

Further highlighting our academic excellence, we achieved the highest EBacc Average Point Score in the county, with a score of 4.98. The EBacc APS reflects attainment across the core EBacc subjects—English, maths, sciences, a language, and either history or geography—offering a robust indicator of consistent, high-level performance in this demanding suite of qualifications.

These outcomes come in the same year that Ofsted named us the “Happiest School in Somerset,” highlighting our positive culture, strong relationships, and supportive learning environment.

Our Headteacher, Steve Clayson, praised the work of students and staff alike “These results are a testament to the extraordinary effort our students put into their studies and the unwavering commitment of our brilliant staff. To achieve such fantastic outcomes—while also being recognised as the happiest school in Somerset—makes me incredibly proud. This reflects a community that believes in ambition, resilience, and genuine care.”
