Sixth Form Leavers’ Reflections – The Class of 2025

As Heads of School, it’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of our time at Sexey’s Sixth. For some of us, it’s been seven years of memories; for others, just two—but no matter when we joined, Sixth Form has been a time of growth, challenge, and unforgettable moments. It’s not easy to sum up everything this experience has meant, but we wanted to share some of the memories, reflections, and thanks that we hope capture what makes Sexey’s so special to all of us.

After seven years at Sexey’s, this marks the final assembly, the final lessons, and the last time many students will wear the school colours. That’s over 400 assemblies, countless lunch breaks, revision sessions, and friendships formed in corridors, classrooms and yes—on the legendary Squares court.

While much is said about education, lessons, and exam results (and those things do matter), it’s often the moments between that stay with us:

  • The return to school after Covid, seeing friends and teachers face-to-face again, even behind masks.
  • The transition to GCSEs and A levels, when teachers became not just educators but real people—encouraging, knowledgeable, and deeply supportive.
  • Games of Squares at break time, fiercely contested and fondly remembered. A true Sexey’s tradition.

For those who joined in Year 12, the experience has been just as meaningful. Sixth Form brought new faces, new routines, and—for some—an entirely new school environment. But what quickly became clear was the inclusive and welcoming nature of the Sexey’s community. It wasn’t long before it was difficult to tell who had been here for two years and who had been here for seven.

Students described lessons as “more than just textbook learning”—a space where personality, humour and support helped navigate the inevitable pressures of A levels. Whether studying sciences, art, or english, each subject brought its own challenges, and each student rose to meet them with resilience and pride.

As one student put it, “It’s surreal to think that A levels are over. This marks the end of one chapter—and the beginning of the next.”

Now, students go on to an exciting variety of futures:

  • University courses, including many Russell Group destinations
  • Gap years, travelling or exploring new opportunities
  • Apprenticeships and employment, ready to make their mark in the world

Wherever they go, they take with them the friendships, values, and memories forged at Sexey’s.

On behalf of the Sixth Form leavers:

“To the teachers—thank you for your time, your humour, and your endless support.
To the parents and carers—thank you for standing by us through every step.
To each other—thank you for making this journey what it was.”

We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2025. They leave us not only with qualifications, but as kind, articulate, resilient young adults—ready for whatever comes next.

We wish them all the very best in their future adventures.
