STEM Challenge Regional Final Winners

STEM Challenge Regional Final Winners

A big congratulations to our Year 9 students Adam K, Florence W, Tolly P and Sam I on winning the the STEM Challenge ‘Road to Riat’ Regional Finals during the school summer holidays.

The ‘Road to Riat’ challenge was contested by 60 schools from across the South West Region. Each school held its own STEM Challenge day hosted by the Smallpeice Trust, where here at Sexey’s we had 15 teams competing and the winning team’s entry was then put forward to be judged against the winning entries from the other 59 schools.

The top four teams from the 60 school winners were then invited to RAF Fairford to compete in the Regional Final where they had to build a Lego robot. The four students worked incredibly hard throughout the day and were particularly praised for their outstanding communication skills as they worked together as a team.

When the final judging had taken place the team took a well deserved first place and brought home the trophy to Sexey’s School.

Mrs Radford-James said “We are extremely proud of these young people who have shown such enthusiasm and dedication to STEM subjects over the course of the whole academic year and this is such a well deserved accolade for all of their hard work.”

Thank you to all our students who took part in the challenge and to Mrs Radford-James and our Science teachers for supporting the challenge days in school.
