Spring Newsletter 2025

Welcome to our Spring Newsletter 2025! As we reach the end of a busy and rewarding Spring Term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my first six weeks as Headteacher at Sexey’s School. It has been a pleasure to get to know our fantastic students and dedicated staff, and I have been struck by the warm and welcoming community spirit that makes Sexey’s so special. I look forward to continuing to build on the school’s strengths and working closely with you all in the months ahead.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the BSA State Boarding Forum for Heads at the House of Commons. It was an insightful event that reinforced the value of state boarding education and provided an excellent opportunity to discuss key developments in our sector.

Next term, I am excited to meet more of you at our ‘Meet the Headteacher’ sessions. If you haven’t yet booked a slot, you can do so here. I value these opportunities to hear directly from parents and carers, and to share our vision for the future of the school.

This term has seen many wonderful student achievements that truly embody our core values of resilience, respect and kindness. Our students continue to excel both inside and outside the classroom. A special mention to Lilly for her success in Taekwondo and to Immy for her achievements in gymnastics – both demonstrating incredible dedication and hard work. In our Sixth Form, we are immensely proud that every student who applied to university has received at least one university offer, with particular congratulations to Abi, who has secured four offers for Medicine at prestigious Russell Group universities.

As we look ahead, we wish our Year 11 and Year 13 students the very best of luck in their upcoming exams. Their efforts and determination have been inspiring, and we will continue to support them every step of the way.

We also bid a fond farewell to Mr Dalzell, our Deputy Head, who leaves us this term. His contribution to the school has been invaluable, and we thank him for his dedication and commitment over the past 6 years and wish him all the best in his new role and beyond.

On a wonderful note, we are delighted to share that Sexey’s School has been named the happiest secondary school in Somerset by The Sunday Times! This recognition is a testament to the positive and nurturing environment we strive to create for all our students.

Looking forward to next term, we have some exciting events coming up, including our School Quiz Night on Thursday 22nd May and our highly anticipated school production of Tuesday. Tickets for the production will go on sale after Easter, and we encourage you to come along and support our talented students.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable Easter break.
