Sexey’s Library Christmas Appeal
Students of all ages come in every day to get out new books and play games. We are so lucky to have such a popular library here at Sexey’s.
At the start of term, a survey was sent out to the whole school to ask all the big questions to improve the library such as; how often do you use the library and what would you like to see on our shelves? In some cases, students wanted more copies of an old favourite and some asked for the sequels to last year’s very kind book donations.
The library has begun a dedicated shelf for ‘Diversity’ and it is our wish to add to this up as much as possible. Students have put on their thinking caps and been adding to the wish list for the last 2 months.
We would like to boost our collection, with your help.
We have curated our Sexey’s Library Christmas Appeal with an Amazon Wishlist of new books and enrichment activities to add to our library. If you feel able to make a lasting contribution to our library by purchasing an item on our Wishlist we would be most grateful.
If you would like to buy an item, please click here.
Items can be sent direct to the school by selecting the option ‘Jess La Trobe-Bateman Sexeys Gift Registry Address’. Don’t forget to include a message telling us who you are and your relationship to the school, so that we can put a dedication on your item for pupils and staff to see for years to come.
Everyone was so generous last year and our students loved seeing the parcels arrive and the dedications from Old Sexeians, past and current teachers, parents and students.
For this year’s list we have thought of everything, from Formula one Top Trumps to heavy-hitting award-winning novels. The list caters for every age group and multiple interests.
Here is a snapshot of what you can find:
Ghosts, Raina Telgemeier (series)
Packed with humour, adventure and drama, we hope to get a selection of new graphic novels to engage and excite our younger readers.
If you like a comic to go with your plot then these are perfect.
The Nowhere Emporium, Ross Mackenzie (series)
When the mysterious Nowhere Emporium arrives in Glasgow, orphan Daniel Holmes stumbles upon it quite by accident. Before long, the ‘shop from nowhere’ — and its owner, Mr Silver — draw Daniel into a breath taking world of magic and enchantment.
More Manga!
Manga from last year has been so popular that students want more!
Manga is an increasingly popular genre among young adults today, as much for the interesting storylines as for the striking illustrations.
One Piece! is a crazy and fun adventure based manga with strong characterization.
One of us is back, Karen McManus (series)
Students have been desperate to complete this thrilling book series. From international bestseller, Karen M. McManus, comes the explosive third and final instalment in the acclaimed Bayview series.
Dobble
We have noticed how popular the Uno cards have been especially with those who only have 10 minutes to visit at lunch time. We would now love to add Dobble, especially the durable set and it is so popular for all ages in need of some down time.
Thank you so much for supporting the Sexey’s Library Christmas Appeal. If you happen to have any of the books or activities pre-loved at home and you would like to donate these, we would be happy to have them!
