George Eyre
Old Sexeian George Eyre played rugby for Oxford University in its u21 Varsity victory (36-12) against Cambridge at Twickenham on 11 December 2014.
George – who was one of only about five state educated players in the squads of both teams – was ecstatic at the win, telling Sexey’s: “It was an amazing experience to play at Twickenham and to be part of such a successful day of rugby for Oxford, which was completed by the Dark Blues winning by a record margin later in the day.”
George Eyre left Sexey’s for New College, Oxford in 2012. He boarded during his Lower School years, becoming a day boy in Sixth Form. George always showed sporting promise, captaining the 1st XI cricket and playing rugby for North Dorset RFC. He was also part of the Sexey’s U14 cricket side that won the Mid Wessex League in 2008, beating all local clubs.
His father is ex-military and his mother was a core member of Sexey’s Parents Staff Association.
