Year 12 Careers Activities
Year 12 Students continued with their Careers activities this week – following on from the Employability and Apprenticeship talks in March and a visit to the University and Apprenticeship Fair at Ashton Gate.
They launched their University applications and attended a conference at Bath University which involved presentations on choosing a course, the application process and an introduction to personal statement writing which was reinforced by a full workshop session with Katie Vickers from the University of Reading. They also learnt about the local Higher Education landscape and Student Finance from Tori Masters from Yeovil College.
Following on from this, they took part in a coaching session followed by mock interviews with employers and professionals from the local community, selling themselves with confidence. The interviewers were really impressed with students’ self- awareness and ambition and drive to succeed. This will stand them in good stead as they venture into the world of work next week on work experience placements.
Well done and good luck, Year 12s!
