Culture Day
On Friday 5th May we held our first Culture Day in school organised and led by the Sixth Form Prefect Team.
All students were invited to come to school dressed in clothes from their culture or in the colours of a country flag of their choice for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. Boarding house Macmillan was opened in 1994 and is named after Old Sexeian Douglas Macmillan who founded Macmillan Cancer Care.
Students in Years 7 to 9 took part in a lunchtime Bint Shield Culture Day Quiz to guess the country flags that were placed around school. Congratulations to Harry B – Hobhouse, Kenya H – Hobhouse, Isabelle S – Hobhouse, Eleanor W – Golledge, Ruby S – Golledge for collectly identifying all 30 flags.
Sixth Formers Naysa B and Claude C hosted an assembly and catwalk to talk about and celebrate the different cultures in school.
Thank you to Naysa B, Claude C, Hal A-D and Daisy S-R for organising such a fantastic event. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity within our community and learn a little more about friends cultures and traditions.
Over both Culture Day and the Coronation Day we have raised more than £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support, thank you very much for your support.
