Year 12 Employability Day

Year 12 Employability Day

Year 12 took part in an Employability day hearing from visiting speakers about alternatives to University which included work-based pathways after A levels such as Degree Apprenticeships and Sponsored Degree initiatives and the Armed Forces training route.

Students also heard about examples of the range of different job roles within large organisations; the skills and experiences employers value and how these can help to support a successful career, as detailed in our Keynote speaker talk on working and living abroad.

Students also participated in outdoor skills building activities with the Army Elite Skills team led by Merlin and his colleagues. Well done, Year 12 (and Mr. Brooker), for your resilience outside on a cold and damp afternoon!

Student feedback was that the day was useful with one student commenting that it had helped to dispel myths around Apprenticeships and highlighted them as a real alternative to continuing in full time education.

Many thanks to all our participants:
Mr. Dave Boyer (Keynote Speaker)
Mrs. Nikki Blackwell (ASK Apprenticeships)
Mr. Darren Clinton (University of South Wales)
Sgt. Christopher Stone (British Army Careers, Taunton)
Army Elite Skills Team, Exeter
