Library Newsletter – Easter 2023
Welcome to our Easter Library Newsletter. The beginning of this term has been very busy in the library, as we have labelled, processed and covered all our new books that we got for Christmas. Students have been quick to check out our new stock, with Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper series and our all-new manga collection proving among the most popular.
With the help of our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award volunteer, Evelyn dH, Year 10, we have been able to update some of the library display boards; we particularly love this one:
A big congratulations to Evelyn for completing all 720 minutes of her volunteering requirements here in the library. She was a big help, and her creative and book mending skills will be missed!
After half term, we celebrated World Book Day with Fancy Dress Friday, and welcomed each year 7 tutor group into the library for a story session with our Sexey’s Sixth Year 12 A Level English students. A huge thank you to Isabella C, Alex E, Hugh F, Flo Mt, Charlotte P, Henry S, Nina S and Charlie W for giving up their time to regale our year 7s with exciting tales! These were interactive sessions, with pairs of Sixth Formers reading from our You Choose survival series and their rapt audience voting on what choices they wanted to make. We’re sorry to say that the youngest members of our Sexey’s community have questionable survival skills, and probably wouldn’t last very long in the wilderness!
We wish everyone a restful Easter break.
