Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery Careers Visit
Our Sixth Form Art pupils had the opportunity to take part in a careers event for schools on Friday 2 December, 10am – 12.30pm at our local Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery, Bruton. The theme for the event was working at an art gallery, and it encapsulated an insight into the roles that make a gallery work from the inside.
Guest speakers included, Hannah Wright, Registrar at Thomas Dane Gallery, London; Dea Vanagan, Director at Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery; and Sara Blair, Head of Marking and Communications at Arnolfini, Bristol.
Our pupils had the opportunity to hear about the speakers’ jobs, how they came to be in that role, and listened to advice they had for people interested in a career within an art gallery. Dea Vanagan then led a tour of the Louise Bourgeois 1939 – 2010 exhibition as part of her session, thinking about curation and exhibition planning.
