Headteacher Challenge: Week 6

During this period of lockdown, we are setting Weekly Headteacher Challenges, which are open to the whole school community to get involved.
These challenges are optional but we encourage all students to take part as all participants will receive house points, which will contribute to the Bint Shield competition. Winners will be announced in the End of Week email, and celebrated on our social media channels.
It’s two weeks to go until International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th. This year’s campaign theme – #ChooseToChallenge – unifies action in helping forge an inclusive world.
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) seeks to “achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”. It aims to make reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as end violence or practices such as forced marriage or FGM towards women and girls around the world.
Worldwide, millions of people mark International Women’s Day. It provides an important opportunity to reinforce commitment and action forging women’s equality, while also celebrating women’s achievements.
So for this week’s challenge, we’re asking you to show your support by taking a photo of you striking the #ChooseToChallenge pose with your hand high to show your commitment to choose to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. For examples, please see the page here.
You can also download a selfie card to include in your photo using the official templates here.
If you’d like to take your engagement with the day further, you could write a poem or a song, or draw a picture around the themes of IWD. There are more creative ideas here.
Send your photo (and other creative output) to ssimms@sexeys.somerset.sch.uk and we will create a school montage of the images to show our solidarity on IWD. The deadline for submissions in order to receive your house point will be 3.40pm on Thursday 25th February.
Thank you!
