Congratulations to Sixth Former Lizzie, Y12, who came first in Somerset this weekend at the English Schools’ National Cross Country Championship Finals.

The event, which was held at Sefton Park, saw 300 people run the Senior Girls Race. Lizzie was placed first for Somerset, 75 overall, competing in some very challenging conditions.

She said, “I train five times a week so it was great to have been placed first for Somerset. It makes all the hard work worth it! For anyone interested in joining cross country, I’d recommend that you have to really enjoy it. Put the effort in, and learn to enjoy the mud! There’s lots of mud.”

Lizzie will now start training straight away for the steeplechase for the athletics season. We wish her the very best of luck.
