Meeting Her Majesty The Queen
We were thrilled when students were able to meet Her Majesty The Queen during one of their regular educational art visits to Hauser & Wirth Somerset today.
Students were studying one of the gallery’s permanent exhibitions, ‘Matthew Day Jackson. Pathetic Fallacy’ during the Queen’s tour. She stopped to speak to them while they were practising their monoprinting techniques. Commenting, Annabel F and Niamh O, Year 10 day and boarding students said:
Her Majesty complimented us on our printing before moving on to view more of the art. There was a real buzz in the town because of her visit and it was exciting to be a part of that.
Earlier in the day, Her Majesty officially opened the Queen Elizabeth Music School at King’s School, Bruton on the occasion of their 500th anniversary. Students and staff joined Bruton’s residents to line the streets and welcome the Queen as she visited the town.
