Go Karting Success

The late great Ayrton Senna once described karting as the ‘purest driving experience‘. This was certainly the view of Sexey’s karting teams, who took part in the local semi final at the Wessex track in Salisbury on Tuesday 26th February 2019.

Out of 11 participating teams, Sexey’s teams came 3rd, 8th & 9th, with the former (Archie Coulsey-Belgeonne, Edward Goodman & Theo Kaberry) qualifying through to the South West and South Regional Final on Sun 12 May 2019 at Thruxton Kart Centre. A grid line up go karting

Commenting, Mrs A Goodman, who organizes the school team club, said, “I was so proud of all of our karting students. Their sportsmanship was superb and they supported each other brilliantly. Special congratulations of course go to the boys who qualified through to the next stage – I look forward to watching them (with bated breath!) as they take part at Thruxton.”

Edward Goodman added, “Karting is fantastic – I love the excitement and thrill of the race. You have to show real determination and work well as a team to succeed – plus we had some good tactics up our sleeve!”

Also participating in the club were:

  • Alexander Arnot
  • Tom Foster
  • Iain Kirkwood
  • Milo Montague
  • Ned Stock
  • Angus Stolworthy

Sexey’s karting club is open (on a first come, first served basis) to all students aged 13+ who measure over 1.5m tall. Each race takes around 10 minutes, and each driver completes two races. These test their ability to maintain position, but also to gain and overtake other participants.

The competition is organized by the British Schools Karting Championship. The national final will be held in June.
