Campaign to Save Scott’s Hut, Antarctica

In 1910 Sexey’s School played an important role in supporting the last expedition of Captain Scott. 100 years ago, the staff, pupils and parents were involved in raising funds to enable the expedition to buy top quality equipment; Sexey’s contributed a sleeping bag called Sexey’s. 2010 is the centenary year of the embarkation of the expedition and we are supporting the campaign to save the expedition base, in Antarctica. Remarkably the hut still survives, packed full of supplies, equipment and personal items belonging to Scott and his men. As a documentary record of Antarctic exploration 100 years ago, it has no parallel and the UK Antarctic Trust is working hard to ensure that future generations will continue to be inspired by the stories of Scott and his colleagues.
