In July 2011 we hope to join with another school and accompany a small group of students from Sexey’s to Tanzania for four weeks. The main objective of the expedition will be community projects and wildlife conservation.
The trip is being organized by a company called Camps International (www.campsinternational.com) who run projects in Africa and Asia; these projects are ongoing, employing local people and ensuring that work that is started is also finished. The company addresses the needs of the people in each area, and the building and conservation projects it undertakes will vary according to their needs. This means we will not know exactly what work we will be doing until we get there, but projects currently underway include building/renovating school buildings, clearing ground for play areas, digging watering holes for wildlife, planting trees and beach clean-ups.
We and the students will need to fund the trip ourselves and it is hoped that a lot of the money can be raised through sponsorship and fundraising. Each student needs to raise £3,450 and we have several fundraising events underway to support them. Details of these will be posted on this website with updates of our progress and also the work we are doing once we finally get to Tanzania.
If you would like to support our fundraising we would be delighted to hear from you.
