Walwin House

Walwin House, which was built in the late 30's is a Year 7 boarding house for both girls and boys. A maximum of 49 children reside at Walwin, 19 girls and 30 boys. There are, as you will see from the photographs, two separate houses, one where the boys sleep and the other for the girls. Each dormitory accommodates four to six children. In the first two terms the children are moved around to build-up friendships and develop team spirit. In the boys' house there is a large Common Room for all the children to socialise in with its own television, sofas and small kitchen area. In the summer the large doors are opened leading directly onto the patio and into the extensive grounds including the school playing fields. The girls also have their own Common Room where they can spend some time away from the boys!

The boys' house is run by Matt and Nikki Smith and the girls' by Phil and Jacky Fairhurst, both assisted by one of our foreign GAP students. A number of tutors come in for the evenings and weekends to provide additional activities.
