Boarding in Sixth Form

Boarding at Sexey's

Potential boarding Sixth Formers will be interviewed by the Director of Boarding, and a member of the Sixth Form Team. Places are limited, so an early application is advisable. Students will be required to demonstrate that they can contribute to the needs of the boarding environment as a senior member of the community in addition to the normal academic requirements.

As a Church of England Academy tuition is free. However there are fees for students who have selected to attend as boarders and these are reviewed annually in March. It is not a requirement of the school that Sixth Form students must board, but full boarding is available if required.

boardingAbout Boarding
All of the boarding houses are co-educational and staffed accordingly. Each term there are a wide variety of social events, in house, in school and on organised trips or visits.

Boarding provides the opportunity for A Level students to become more independent and as such is a good transition between school and university life. Opportunities for inter-personal and leadership skills are enhanced as most boarders take on some degree of responsibility for others and for the management of school activities such as prep (homework), competitive inter- house events and peer helping. It is an excellent preparation for student life on the social as well as the academic and extra-curricular side.

Notes: All boarders must vacate boarding houses at ¼ term and ¾ term exeat weekends and all school holidays. Year 13 students are requested to vacate the school premises after their last A Level exam.
