Parents and students are encouraged to make an informal visit to the school, where there is an opportunity to discuss the boarding aspects with members of staff. A tour of the boarding house and school will be arranged for you. The Headmaster meets with parents to discuss the academic and other aspects of any application. The Deputy Head (Boarding) is available to discuss with parents how boarding at Sexey’s may best meet their needs. On receipt of formal application, arrangements are made for the Boarding Interview to take place. These are normally on Saturdays, but under exceptional circumstances may be arranged at other times.
All applicants for boarding will be interviewed by the Headmaster and the Deputy Head. Parents meet with a Governor to discuss financial and guardianship matters. The purpose of the interview is to ascertain that the student will be able to cope with the demands of boarding. This includes ensuring that the student has had an opportunity to discuss their view of being at a boarding school, that they have considered how their life may be different than being at a day school, and that they have the social and interpersonal skills to adopt a life in a boarding community. Interviewing staff will assess the student’s ability to cope independently, take responsibility for their own behaviour and conduct, show consideration for others and cope with a highly structured routine.
Please see the Admissions Policy for further information.
