The school has extensive sports facilities, including a modern, purpose built sports hall, gym and heated indoor swimming pool. We encourage participation in a range of sports, either for fun and exercise, or competitively. For those with greater ambitions there is every opportunity to compete at area or County level. We currently have competitive rugby teams, thriving badminton teams (with national players), squash, tennis, cricket, basketball, hockey, netball, football and athletics. Thursday afternoon sessions also include Pilates, trampolining, mountain biking, kayaking and climbing!
Our colour house system ensures a wide range of sporting and cultural activities take place throughout the year. Students of all abilities are encouraged to “have a go” and get involved to help their team win the Bint Shield.
Drama, music and art are well catered for with regular dramatic productions and musical evenings and an annual art exhibition.
For those who prefer more adventurous activities, which we know impress employers, we offer a wide range of outdoor programmes including The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and even sailing and caving.
Foreign cultural and academic visits in recent years have played an important element of Sixth Form life. These have included Sixth Form visits to France, Germany, Barcelona and New York.
Students are encouraged to support younger students in the lower school and may become student mentors, peer counsellors, paired readers or offer subject specific or tutor group support.
The Sixth Form Council meets regularly to organise social, sporting and fund raising activities, the most prestigious of which is the annual Summer Ball.
“Sexey's offered a wealth of extra curricular opportunities, everyone got involved and everyone was encouraged. Sexey's also gave me what I needed to get on to a competitive degree course.” Sixth Form student
