GCSE Results 2018
Students at Sexey’s have yet again attained above the national average in their GCSE’s. Staff, students and their families are quite rightly celebrating super results with 70% gaining a standard pass (9-4) in GCSE Maths and English compared to the national figure of 66.9%. High attaining students have done well with 23% of all grades achieved being the new top grades of 7-9, again exceeding the national figure of 21%. These results will quite rightly open up a range of opportunities to these students for further study, training and employment.
Headteacher, Helen Cullen said “Each and every student should be proud of their achievements. Staff are quite rightly celebrating these results, with student’s facing the new GCSE specifications, where greater expectations have been placed on them. We have still seen excellent results at whole cohort and subject level with a significant number of departments having excellent pass rates for a standard pass (9-4), including GCSE French with 100% pass rate. Other strong results were seen in Geography, PE, Music and RE. We have a number of students who have achieved some quite outstanding results. The top achievers were William Forster, David Clackson , Adam Beedle, Jacob Carnegie, Grace Dovey and Camilla Dukes who collectively achieved 33 grade 9’s and 15 grade 8’s out of their 60 GCSE entries.”
The excellent teaching together with super care advice and guidance that students receive at Sexey’s has helped the young people grow and develop into strong, well rounded, confident learners who have excellent GCSE results to prepare them for the next stage in their journey of lifelong learning. We are delighted that so many of our Year 11’s have chosen to stay with us and join Sexey’s sixth form which last week celebrated some excellent results placing them amongst one of the best 6th form’s locally.
