Headteacher’s Weekly Notes 27.04.18
We come to the end of another busy week with only three weeks of term left! We are all looking forward to Sports Day on the 25th May and we will be sending you further details nearer to the time.
Year 11 and Year 13 are in the thick of revision for their examinations and there is a very calm and purposeful atmosphere in all of the classrooms. Teachers are taking part in an innovative ‘Teach, Coach, Teach’ programme currently. This involves staff electing a class to be observed teaching, to gain tips on particular issues and subsequently engaging in a coaching session with Mr Matt Hall or Mr Paul Skipp to focus on how the aspect of the lesson could be improved. Mr Hall and Mr Skipp have been very impressed with the high quality of teaching and learning they have seen.
In addition to this, the standards of teaching and learning in the Sixth Form were affirmed as very effective by an external review, undertaken by the Cathedral Schools’ Trust and Head of Sixth form.
I have been in contact with Helen Cullen, who will take up her post as the permanent Headteacher of Sexey’s School in September 2018. We have been arranging dates for her to come in so we can begin the smooth transition and handover of roles. She will have input in to relevant future staff appointments also.
I will be attending the annual Boarding School’s Association Conference in Brighton next week and I look forward to sharing best practice with my colleagues from boarding schools across the country.
Have a restful weekend.
