Sexey’s at the races
Wincanton Race Meeting Sunday April 22nd 2018
Sexey’s School was well represented at the Family’s Fun Day race meeting at Wincanton race course last weekend for a full ten race card which included the maximum number of runners allowed on its eight-race card, and two pony races taking place earlier in the day.
Harry Cobden, former student 2010-14, rode in six races and won two of them against quality opposition and boosted his standings in the champion jockey competition. These wins put his total up to 75 winners for the season and follow on from victories at Cheltenham and Aintree in recent weeks.
Current year 7 student, Freddie Gingell, was also at the same race meeting competing in one of the two pony races against the best young jockeys in the country at this category. Make no mistake, these are not your normal ponies but small and very fast thoroughbreds. Freddie, riding “The Job’s not straight”, won his race and significantly boosted his chances of being the best young jockey in the country.
