Welcome to Sexey’s, Bruton! Established in 1891, we are a leading Church of England co-ed state boarding and day school for ages 11 – 18 based in the beautiful Somerset countryside in the South West of England. Choosing a school – the right school, is one of the most important decisions you as a parent will make for your child. I’d like to take this opportunity to give you a flavour of the education your son or daughter will receive should you choose to send him or her to Sexey’s. Parents often ask us what is so special about Sexey’s and what makes it different from other schools. Our reply is that we view every pupil as unique; valued as an individual, but also part of a family. It is our belief that every boy and girl has a unique talent and it is our responsibility to help discover, nurture and develop this talent.
School days have a powerful influence on future success in life and we believe a Sexey’s education can give you the best start. We are very much a family school, educating brothers and sisters from Year 7 through to Sixth Form. Our pupils not only achieve excellent academic qualifications, but they also enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities and receive outstanding pastoral care. However successful you are in life, to be truly happy and fulfilled you need to have successful relationships with others. We aim to equip our boys and girls with the skills and abilities necessary for adult life in the 21st century – academic, extra-curricular and spiritual.
A website can only give you a brief glimpse of school life. You are warmly invited to visit and experience for yourself the unique atmosphere of what we believe is a unique and special school. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Sexey's is a Tatler recommended Top 20 UK State School, 2016
"Your school is one of the top 100 non-selective state-funded schools in England based on the key stage 2 to key stage 4 value added measure. This reflects the fantastic progress made by your pupils since the end of primary school. Thank you for your work in these important areas of a young person’s education and congratulations to you and your staff for your hard work and professionalism.”
Mr Nick Gibb MP,
Minister of State for Schools
"Look no further for value for money: all the advantages of boarding in a small school without the enormous price tag or social pretentiousness. If you want your child to be a day pupil and you're lucky enough to live in the catchment area then applying here is a no-brainer. Results are consistently good. A plethora of extracurricular activities. School is very keen on creating a culture of well-being and happiness."
